  1. Wishing you a peaceful and contented Christmas, Richard. I have been eagerly awaiting the advent posts each day and was like a small child this morning as I opened the final ‘door’. Thank you so very much for taking the trouble to post these every day; I’ve learned loads.

  3. And a very happy Christmas to you and the ecologist! Thank you for the brilliant Advent calendar and for all the fascinating blogs throughout this horrible year which have been a life-line and helped hugely to make up for the lack of travel and going to exhibitions. Fingers crossed for 2021. Love Fiona

  4. Wishing you a happy Christmas too, Richard. I’ve enjoyed your Advent calendar very much. Happy memories of our trip to Brussels- the last time I got abroad. Can you please note my new email address. I tried to change it on WordPress but your blog still comes through to the old one. Best wishes Sheila

    1. Thank you, Sheila! In retrospect I didn’t realise how lucky we were to be in Brussels – so glad we could go! I’m afraid I don’t know what to do about your change of email address – I’m not in control of it at all, as far as I’m aware (but I’ll have a look to see…). You might need to contact wordpress directly – I’ll see if I can find the right point of contact. All best wishes for a VERY Happy New Year! Richard

  6. Thank you so much for this Advent Calendar (can’t wait to get back to the National Gallery to look at the painting again) it has been a real joy, and thank you for the very interesting talk on the Adoration of the Magi, and the amazing series on the Scrovegni Chapel. I have heard you a couple of times at the National Gallery and I’m delighted to be able to hear you online. Talks like these make such a difference to lockdown! Thank you, Merry Christmas

    1. Thank you, Brian – so glad you have enjoyed it. Coincidentally, the NG has a special focus on this painting – they have obviously been planning it for quite some time, but you can see it in even greater detail… More on that another day, I suspect. Wishing you all the best for a Happy New Year!
